Take a dip at Aquarium Barcelona

One of the city’s latest attractions is the Barcelona Aquarium. Located right next to the IMAX cinema in the Port Vell area, Barcelonas’ own Seaworld attracts hundreds of tourists every week. In 35 aquariums which do features on all of the oceans on earth, the visitors are presented 450 different species of marine creatures such as Shellfishes, Octopuses, Clownfishes (yes, the one in Finding Nemo!), Blowfishes, Sting rays, different kinds of Sharks and many more.  Also, you can see various Anemones, Corals and a huge selection of Seashells; around 11,000 animals in total! The highlight of the Barcelona Aquarium is an underwater tunnel which is 80 meters long and allows visitors to literally walk through the underwater world. Sometimes you can see professional divers swimming with the sharks in the middle of the largest aquarium, because they offer “Diving with sharks” experiences.

The Barcelona Aquarium is a great place for families and offers many facilities for kids to explore such as submarines to explore. However, compared to other Seaworlds like the one in Monterey, California or in London, UK, the Aquarium Barcelona unfortunately can’t really compete in terms of its entertainment or the amount of species offered. Also, the fairly high entrance fee may put some people off from entering the Aquarium.
