Port Vell means Old Port in Catalan. The habour was one of the building projects for the Olympic Games in 1992. Since then it has changed the city’s face tremendously. As in many other cities (compare East London getting transformed to be ready for the Olympic Games 2012), an old industrial habour with its run-down warehouses was turned into a modern recreation area including shopping, eating out, cinema and businesses.
